This post is part of a series called 2014 France
Pont du Gard – built around 40 ad as part of a project bringing water to Nimes is still standing after all these years. This area, in southern France, is amazing. It’s a short drive to Nimes, three hours to Nice, France and 4 hours to Barcelona, Spain. there was hardly anyone there late in the day in April of 2015 and we hadn’t done a lot of research. We were in Nice just checking out the countryside. Once we walked from the parking lot to the bridge we were in awe.
To think it had been built just 10 or so years after Jesus’ death while many of the apostles were still alive is especially intriguing.
